US232P的第9腳的5V電源輸出來自USB介面。 US232P晶片組本身消耗約90mA的功率。假設USB口給US232P提供500mA的電源，理論上US232P的9腳5V電源輸出為410mA（500mA減去US232P晶片組本身消耗的90mA）。

因此，US232P的最大額定電流為USB介面提供的供電電流減去90mA。

此外，如果連接的RS232設備運作電流超過500mA，US232P短路保護將啟動並停止工作幾秒鐘。
